Went down to the Hayle estuary this afternoon to look for colour-ringed birds. Quite unsuccessful again.
Got onto one Black-headed Gull carrying a red darvic ring, first letter P then a bit of mud then 11. Trying to decipher the muddy bit when predictably the bird flew off after disturbance from one of the loudest tractors I have heard. Put up all the gulls on the estuary. I hope he broke down. Despite another half hour of searching it couldn't be re-located. As far as I know it's a Polish bird.
Other ringed birds down there were 2 Black-headed's and 1 Med Gull all carrying silver leg rings, no details acquired.
