Yesterday i undertook a short walk on the reservoir's East side looking for singing birds, any signs of early nesting by Long-tailed Tit etc. Pretty much drew a blank. A few Chaffinch singing, couple of Reed Bunting and that was about it. A single Great Crested Grebe is now a pair so these will provide great interest. The reservoir is currently full unlike last year when their nests were washed out time after time by rising water levels.
A trip this afternoon to Hells Mouth and nothing has changed with the Cormorant - still four nests under construction. No sign of Raven at all and a huge drop in Fulmar numbers. Ranging from 75 to 88 all year, now numbering 28 this afternoon. Possible they may have been feeding, guess I'll have a better idea next weekend.
