A day with the Nestfinder General

Today myself and my mentor (Dan) drove up to Dartmoor to spend some time with accomplished Stonechat nest recorder Mark Lawrence and his mate Mark Penney. Words cant really describe the morning. The view at 07.30 was awesome, low lying mist in the valley, sun shining, Yellowhammer singing, Cuckoo's (at least 3) calling, Wood Warbler made itself heard briefly. A trek up the moorland and we met up with Mark and Mark for a mornings nesting. It soon became quite apparent these guys knew their area and their chosen species - Stonechat and Meadow Pipit.

Both Mark's gave pointers on what to watch for activity from single males, watching females, expected times off the nest to feed etc. A good mornings work produced 4 Stonechat nests and 2 Meadow Pipit nests

Below are the group images with the wonderful backdrop called Dartmoor
