Owl prowl

Today my day off work was spent brush cutting down on the reserve. Now, I hate brush cutting and thankfully it only has to be done once a year. It is nice though when you can stand back and see the efforts of 3hrs solid graft

The evening was spent in the hide waiting for Barn Owl. They used to be quite common in October / November but since the cold winter of 2010 they have now become a scarcity. I had only two sightings last year. Tonight, as expected, I had nothing. Oddly enough all my sightings have come in these two months. I did have 21 Snipe though as they took off in ones and twos for a nocturnal feeding session in the fields.
