The uglier side of Nature

Spent two and a half hours tonight on the coast acquiring new Guillemot breeding records. Unfortunately one lasted a mere 45 minutes. A new chick record picked up at 7.15pm was predated by a Herring Gull at 20.00pm. It wasn't particularly nice viewing and the irony of the situation was that the Herring Gull was in turn attacked by a Great Black-backed Gull which succeeded in stealing the meal.
