My last nesting session for a week or so started this morning on the coastal site. A new Cormorant record, 1 egg bringing the total back to 9 active nests. It looks as though the Razorbill are getting ready to lay and thanks to the wonderful piping sound they make - an Oystercatcher was found on one egg. This is a particularly pleasing record as I imagine it'll be the only breeding record for this species submitted to the County.
An empty Chaffinch nest I found at the top of the village a couple days ago now has one egg and despite thinking that my Great Tit eggs would start hatching around now - both birds sat tight when I checked the boxes.
